Upon exiting the elevator into the fourth floor hallway of the hotel, officers met with the armed suspect and shots were exchanged, according to a press release from Lawrenceburg PD and statements from a Lawrenceburg officer.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
One victim sustained minor injuries after the suspect confronted him with a knife prior to police arriving.
The Lawrenceburg Police Department responded to the scene around 1 a.m. for reports of a man chasing a woman around the casino and making threats.
When police arrived, they were informed that there were further reports of shots fired
All officers involved have been placed on administrative leave as part of normal Lawrenceburg PD protocols.
Lawrenceburg PD requested that Indiana State Police take over the investigation into the shooting. More information will come as the investigation continues
