Walnut Street from Cary Town Boulevard to Maynard is closed, and drivers should avoid the area.
At least one injury has been reported after an active shooter situation in Cary on Thursday afternoon.
Police responded around 2:30 p.m. to a call about an “active shooter” near the 600 block of Walnut Street.
“At this time, this is no longer an active shooter situation,” a town official said by email. “There is a confirmed injury but the extent of injuries are unknown at this time
