A bicyclist died after being hit by an SUV on Interstate 880 in West Oakland on Friday night, authorities said.
The collision happened around 8:20 p.m. on northbound I-880 north of 7th Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. The bicyclist, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was unclear why the bicyclist was on the highway.
All lanes were blocked before reopening by 11:30 p.m. on Friday, the CHP said
